From This We Rise, a Progressive Metal band from Lancaster, PA, has completely reinvented themselves in the past few months. A few line-up changes and a complete re-vamping of their sound have resulted in their newest release, entitled "Afterimage".
Afterimage, a six song EP from the band, clocks in at roughly 40 minutes providing a good listen of the many influences and diverse backgrounds the band has. Not only as a whole, but as individual musicians. From This We Rise has worked hard to instill strong feeling and passion in their music and thus have created a new breath of life for themselves. The band is very excited about the release of Afterimage and hope that the songs on the EP will reach listeners in a positive and impactful way.
"I’m twenty four (practically a dinosaur in this context), and the only local metal show I’ve been to since parting ways was close to a year ago. It was to see my friend and former bandmate’s band, From This We Rise. Then, I was two years out of the scene, two years of exploring hip hop, folk, and indie music, practically ignoring the national scene I used to follow. I was impressed, to say the least.
I found that FTWR was (in my now inexperienced position) the only band pushing the envelope. The only band that didn’t give a **** what everyone else was doing; at least in a way where it didn’t affect the music they wrote.
A couple of months ago, Josh talked to me about writing a little bio sort of thing for them. So we started talking about his music. Through our random text and internet conversations, Josh showed me how dedicated he is. I can see the drive, the incessant voice in the back of his head that keeps screaming, “Better! Better! Make it better!” over and over and over again. I don’t think he can turn that voice down, or drown it out. That’s why he still is doing what he does. What’s even better is that he has found a couple of guys who have the same problem. Guys who look at the music world as he does. Guys who feed off each other’s drive, and are equally determined to change what has become a pissing contest of breakdowns and spinkicks. And they have a blast doing it.
We talked about progression. Real progression. Not ripping off different bands in order to make something new, but actually making something new. Creation without alienation. The next step between the music that is, and the music that will be.
Recently, FTWR has been recording a new EP at Highland Studios. The EP, scheduled to be released August 29th, is the next step of their personal progression. The band is ecstatic. This is the sound they’ve been hunting for. The sound they have been sweating and bleeding for. Now they get to share it with the world.
World, I implore you: do not miss this.
From This We Rise is four veterans of the metal scene. Four guys with one mission: to never stop. There are hundreds of metal bands forming at this very moment, who could never dream to accomplish what these guys already have- staying true to their inner music, especially in a time when that is practically extinct."
