Biography

Babylonia, a keystone of the Italian electronic music scene, has as founding members, Max Giunta (vox, programming) and Robbie Rox (synth).
Electropop, synthrock, indiepop are among the many tags that have been used to describe the music of a band able to put many different elements together, mixing catchy ballads with an original and unusual electronic sound.

The band was born, officially speaking, in 2003 with the release of their first single Without Asking Me (distributed by EMI) which not only caught the eye (ear and attention) of the critics and mass media but also of the record-buying public and record labels, in particolar foreign labels.
Mid 2005 sees the publication in Italy of their debut album LATER TONIGHT, receiving instant acclaim from the music press and the title of “record of the month” from Trax magazine.
Pop, rock and electropop in 13 tracks including room for touches of dance rhythms undoubtedly coming from Max’s former musical self when he used to work in tandem with Italy’s Eurodance wizard, Roberto Turatti.
The album is presented at Milan’s well-known club Rolling Stone in an unforgettable evening where Babylonia share the stage with Client, a British band produced by Andy Fletcher from Depeche Mode.

In 2006, Infacted Recordings, Germany’s trendsetter for electronic music, releases Later Tonight v 2.0, a new version of the album with 4 bonus tracks.
Great feedback and reviews from the Web, forums and sites giving recognition to Babylonia’s musical output. Not to be missed.
The 4 singles Catch Me, Something Epic, That Big Lie and (If U Want) My Love (the latter only in Poland) are greeting with a very positive reaction on the part of radios broadcasting not only in Italy and Germany, but also notably in the US and Eastern Europe.
Music videos of the following songs reach a medium rotation: Catch Me (regularly used during the MTV show Love Line), Something Epic (receiving awards at the Sony Short Festival ’06 and nominations for the Italian Videoclip Prize ‘06) and (If U Want) My Love (nomination Future Film Festival ‘08).

In 2008 Babylonia are chosen from over 200 bands and win the annual edition of M.E.I TECH, the electronic sector of M.E.I., Meeting Etichette Indipendenti italiane, the Italian Indie annual shindig.
Babylonia concerts are quite memorable and captivating, probably thanks to the exprience gained on the European tours (Berlin, Frankfurt, Prague, Bratislava, Paris amongst others) and as opening act for cult bands like IAMX and Melotron.

January 2010 sees Babylonia’s comeback and welcome return on the music scene with a new album MOTEL LA SOLITUDE.
In this second phase the introspective side of the band sees the light of day after 3 years of writing and recording and production work culminating with studio production at the Massive Arts Studios in Milan and aided by sound engineer Marco Barusso (Lacuna Coil, Cradle Of Filth and more..)
At the same time energetic and melancholic, the second album marks a step forward for Babylonia’s music and demonstrates their ability to forge memorable ballads and inspired lyrics in a personal and unique way, making use of opera, melodies with an electronic feel but contaminated with instruments such as guitars, accordions and piano.
The album features the singles BY MY SIDE and MYSELF INTO MYSELF.
On 23rd June 2010 Babylonia supported PET SHOP BOYS in their unique concert in Italy!
